One of the requirements for development of Information and communication technologies in national level is to define macro goals to answer social and economic needs of society.
 Different Challenges and requirements of ever growing cities such as Traffic congestion security pollution environment and crisis management are some of the key topics in defining the medium and long term goals and adaptation of new technologies by policy makers and decision takers in administration of cities.
 Based on global experiences defining supplementary goals in Smart City projects is one of the steps which could answer aforementioned requirements and provide the necessary platform for achieving macro goals in medium and long term time frame.
 In recent years considerable amount of investments have been carried out in infrastructure projects such as NOUR TALASH OMID & TADBIR fiber optics networks. In order to increase productivity of these projects having additional investments and developing services based on those infrastructure are necessary.
 Understanding needs and requirements of stakeholders especially in different service sectors such as Cloud Computing Software Companies Data Centers Banks Municipalities Mobile Network Operators   Investors Suppliers and current owners of infrastructure capacities  are crucial for senior managers and decision takers.   We believe the best and most efficient way to understand the requirements and to build dialogue and understanding between different players is to bring all key stakeholders in smart city projects under one roof in a professional summit.
 Prior to the annual event we have been collecting viewpoints of ICT industry professionals and experts in various fields of ICT in Iran organizing workgroups to discuss different aspects and challenges.
During the summit we will be having viewpoints of local & international experts in smart city projects from Europe & Asia Introduction of investment opportunities in Iran and panel discussions on different aspects and requirements for implementation of smart city projects.
Thus the 2nd Smart City Summit event on 22nd & 23rd of August Infrastructure and Investment Opportunities is a unique platform to meet key policy makers decision takers and stakeholders and understanding their requirements and introduction of solutions.
Secretariat of the Iran Smart City Summit hopes that for the second time it could provide the platform for scientific discussions international knowledge and experience transfer and more importantly the dialogue between solution and services providers in private sector and various governmental entities from ministry level to the municipalities.
One of the key themes of this summit is the national policies and necessities for utilization & improving productivity of infrastructures to build new investment opportunities.
In the 2016 edition of Smart City Summit there will be a special focus on various Iranian cities’ capacities for smarting up and their investment opportunities with cooperation from Ministry of Interior Municipalities and Rural Managements Organization and major cities’ municipalities.
Moreover preparation of draft framework for smarting up Iranian cities in cooperation with Information Technology Organization (ITO) of Iran is one of the expected outcome of the 2016 edition of summit.
